PHIN participated in the humanitarian effort.

PHIN leads volunteer program to collect and distribute donations among refugees.

A man’s true wealth is the good he does in this world (Prophet Muhammad Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon him).

EHESP is one of the best institutions of public health in Europe. Besides academic and curricular excellence it is also committed to encouraging the students to take an active part in co-curricular activities. Public Health International Network (PHIN) is a student society/association which arranges different activities for students such as knowledge exchange programs, cultural and sports festivals and also volunteer programs. One of such events was a collection of donations for refugees from the students and staff of EHESP and then the distribution of these donations among refugees.

On March 15, 2017, PHIN successfully arranged a one-day volunteer program and distributed the donations among refugees in a refugee camp near Porte de La Chappelle. It was a memorable day for PHIN and all EHESP students. Giving is not just about making a donation, it is about making a difference. There is a saying that “when you have more than you need, build a longer table not a higher fence” and being students we can just start at our level from what we have and what we can do. Because “the best charity is that given by one who has little” (Prophet Muhammad Peace and Blessings of ALLAH be upon him) and “we can do no great things but only small things with great love” (Mother Teresa).

The refugees’ crisis is at its peak and is getting worse day by day. These people migrated Europe and other countries for the safety of their lives. We always see them on the streets where they face a lot of problems because of having no proper shelter, food and clothing. For this event, PHIN had been collecting donation since early January 2017. We wanted to help the refugees by letting them know that they are not alone and we care for them. All the students and staff took part in it whole-heartedly. Before distribution of donations, we had talked to the camp organizers and told them about our righteous and good moral intentions. As scheduled earlier, on March 15th, we took all the collected stuff and went to the refugees’ camp near Porte de La Chappelle and distributed the stuff to them at their doorstep.

We are thankful to the previous PHIN committee members especially the ex-president Adrienne Knight, the ex-vice president Aurelie Blanc and ex-communication incharge Pauline Obale, for their kind support. We are also thankful to EHESP-administrative and academic staff and students for their enthusiasm and support. Special thanks to Sophie Weston and Phanoula Zanarath for volunteering and going to the camp with us.
